Mr. Chad Struhs
Biography
Mr. Struhs brings 30 years of educator experience to Humphreys Middle School, with 21 of those years serving in school or district leadership roles. He began his career in education in 1992 as a chemistry and math teacher at Soda Springs High School in Idaho. He then became an assistant principal Kodiak High School, followed by principalships at Delta Junction High School and Cordova High School in Alaska. From 2001 to 2017, Mr. Struhs served in the capacity of superintendent of schools in Cordova School District, Cordova, Alaska; Aberdeen School District, Aberdeen, Idaho; Blackfoot School District, Blackfoot, Idaho; and Kwajalein School District at U.S. Army Garrison Kwajalein Atoll in the Marshall Islands.
In 2017, Mr. Struhs joined DoDEA as an Instructional System Specialist for 6-12 Science and STEM for Pacific West District. During that time, Mr. Struhs’s expertise was needed to fulfill acting administrative roles each year at elementary and middle schools in the district.
“Having had a wide breadth of experiences as a teacher and as a building and district administrator has given me the insights and expertise of working with a diverse population of students, parents, staff community, and military partners all for the purpose of educating our children for a greater tomorrow,” Mr. Struhs said.
Mr. Struhs received his Bachelor of Science degree in Natural Science with an emphasis in Chemistry from Lewis-Clark State College, Lewiston, Idaho. He later attained his Master of Education in Education Administration from Idaho State University, Pocatello, Idaho as well as a master’s degree in Curriculum and Instruction from Grand Canyon University in Phoenix, Arizona. He received certification as superintendent through University of Alaska Anchorage. Mr. Struhs has received specialized training in Charlotte Danielson framework for teaching, instructional coaching teachers and administrators, grant writing, Professional Learning Communities, and Project Based Learning.
Mr. Struhs and his wife Allysse, also a DODEA administrator, are extremely proud of the nine children they have between them: Joseph, Ethan, Michaela, Samuel, Rebecca, Shelbey, Kohlson, Aryannah, and Khiandra, and their three grandchildren.
