Humphreys Middle School hosts music festival featuring 8th Army Band
CAMP HUMPHREYS, South Korea – Humphreys Middle School (HMS) proudly hosted its annual Humphreys Middle School Music Festival on Wednesday, May 6, 2026, bringing together student musicians from the 6th, 7th, and 8th grades for a full day of music-making and learning. The festival took place on the HMS campus and showcased the school’s strong and vibrant music program.
The HMS Music Festival featured a wide range of ensembles, including choir, band, and strings. Students participated at all ability levels—beginner, intermediate, and advanced—allowing every musician the opportunity to perform, learn, and grow alongside their peers. Throughout the day, students took part in rehearsals, sectionals, and performances designed to strengthen musicianship, collaboration, and confidence.
A highlight of this year’s festival was the participation of the prestigious 8th Army Band, whose members worked directly with HMS students throughout the day. Leading the 8th Army Band was Chief Warrant Officer 4 Richard Chapman, who provided leadership and inspiration to both students and staff.
The 8th Army Band is well known for its mission that goes beyond musical performance. In addition to supporting ceremonies, memorials, and holidays, the band fosters goodwill with local communities and leaders. Its mission also includes strengthening partnerships between U.S. and Republic of Korea (ROK) forces while preserving the historical ties between the two nations. Through their outreach and performances, the 8th Army Band reflects Eighth Army’s commitment to alliance building and honoring the sacrifices made in defense of both homelands.
Humphreys Middle School was honored to welcome the 8th Army Band and deeply appreciative of the time, expertise, and encouragement the musicians shared with students. The collaboration provided a unique and meaningful educational experience, inspiring HMS music students to strive for excellence while deepening their appreciation for music and service.
