Korean Language students participate in cultural exchange visits

CAMP HUMPHREYS, South Korea – Korean language students at Humphreys Middle School recently participated in cultural exchange visits with local Korean middle schools as part of the school’s growing partnership with the host nation. These experiences provided valuable opportunities for students to build friendships, experience Korean school culture firsthand, and practice the Korean language skills they have been developing throughout the school year.

On May 7, 24 students visited 화성상신중학교 (Hwaseong Sangshin Middle School) for the first in-person exchange between the two schools after previously meeting virtually. Students received a warm welcome and a tour of the school. They also enjoyed interacting with their Korean buddies while making paper fans, sharing lunch, and spending time together during recess.

Another group of HMS students in Korean 1 traveled to Neungdong Middle School in Dongtan on May 14, marking the second annual cultural exchange visit with this sister school. Students attended classes, participated in cultural activities, and shared lunch with their Korean partners while practicing the Korean skills they have developed over the past nine months.

Both visits were meaningful and memorable experiences for students. Humphreys Middle School is excited to continue strengthening these partnerships and look forward to hosting Korean students on our campus this fall.
