Math Fact Olympics at Humphreys Middle School
Humphreys Middle School fifth grade students recently participated in Math Fact Olympics – an event that was a resounding success!
The event was filled with excitement, and it was clear that both students and organizers had a fantastic time.
Ms. Heather Yoder, AAPS, planned the competition, with each class creating their own class flag and song as they entered the cafeteria. This added a wonderful sense of school spirit and camaraderie to the event.
During the competition, students had just one minute to solve 40 addition problems. The challenge was intense, but our young Phoenix mathematicians rose to the occasion. The winners were determined by the number of correct answers and the fastest times. Impressively, our top three students answered all 40 problems correctly with times of 39.43, 38.00, and 37.07 seconds.
We are already looking forward to our next Math Fact Olympics, where students will tackle subtraction, multiplication, and division facts. HMS's goal is to continue building fluency and confidence in math through these fun and engaging competitions.
Stay tuned for more HMS Math Fact updates as our fifth graders get ready for another round of math excitement!
