A Musical First: Humphreys Middle School hosts Korean National Military Symphony Orchestra Concert

CAMP HUMPHREYS – To kick off the Independence Day weekend, Humphreys Middle School welcomed the Korean National Military Symphony Orchestra, joined by the 2nd Infantry Division/ROK-U.S. Combined Division, for a special live performance on Thursday, July 3. The event, held at 3:00 p.m. in the school auditorium, was open to all service members, Department of Defense civilians, and their families. No tickets were required for the free concert, which offered an afternoon of music and camaraderie in celebration of the enduring U.S.-ROK alliance.
The performance featured a dynamic lineup of film scores and popular selections, accompanied by movie scenes projected in the background. Highlights included:
- "Raiders March" from Indiana Jones: Raiders of the Lost Ark – John Williams
- "Symphonic Highlights" from Pirates of the Caribbean: At World's End – Hans Zimmer
- "Symphonic Suite" from Once Upon a Time in America – Ennio Morricone
- "Main Theme" from Love Affair – Ennio Morricone (Violin Solo: Lee Hae Jun)
- "Por Una Cabeza" from Scent of a Woman – Arr. John Williams (Violin Solo: Lee Hae Jun)
- "Throne Room and End Title" from Star Wars: A New Hope – John Williams
- Performance by Magician Kim Gi Ryang
- K-POP artist Kim Jae Hwan performing "Snail" and "Final Countdown" by Europe
- "Doing Fine" by The Cat Empire
- "Symphonic Suite" from The Lord of the Rings: The Fellowship of the Ring – Johan de Meij

Founded in 2010, the Korean National Military Symphony Orchestra is composed of 80 active-duty service members who fulfill their military service through music. Recognized as one of Korea’s leading national orchestras, the ensemble is committed to sharing Korean culture both domestically and abroad.
This year’s performance also marked the 10th anniversary of the ROK-U.S. Combined Division—a milestone that highlights the continued strength, unity, and shared commitment to peace and security on the Korean Peninsula.
Humphreys Middle School was honored to host the orchestra's first performance at Camp Humphreys and looks forward to future collaborations that celebrate the cultural and military partnership between the Republic of Korea and the United States.
