Humphreys Middle School librarian named 2025 Camp Humphreys Civilian Volunteer of the Year

CAMP HUMPHREYS, South Korea — The staff and students of Humphreys Middle School are proud to celebrate one of their own, Ms. Linda Shin, who has been named the 2025 Camp Humphreys Civilian Volunteer of the Year.
Ms. Shin, the school librarian, was honored on April 8, 2025, with a plaque, a commemorative bell, and a coin in recognition of her extraordinary volunteer service. Over the past year alone, she has dedicated more than 750 hours to a variety of causes across Camp Humphreys.

In addition to running an engaging and resourceful library program at Humphreys Middle School, Ms. Shin has spent countless hours supporting the Humphreys Youth Orchestra, volunteering at rehearsals and performances. Her passion for service also extends to Scouting of America, Vacation Bible School, and contributions to the United on the Rock Magazine.
Ms. Shin’s commitment to giving back goes beyond her own efforts — she volunteers alongside her daughter in orphanages near Camp Humphreys, working with North Korean refugee children. Her example of compassion and dedication continues to inspire those around her.
Recognizing the need for stronger school-community connections, Ms. Shin also launched the Phoenix First monthly meetings. These gatherings provide parents and community members with opportunities to engage with the school and stay informed about key topics and events.
Ms. Linda Shin exemplifies the spirit of service and community leadership. Humphreys Middle School is honored to call her its librarian and proud to see her receive the recognition she so richly deserves.
Congratulations, Ms. Shin, and thank you for your tireless dedication to making a lasting impact.
